This week the St. John's children are enjoying Vacation Bible School. This year's VBS theme is titled:"God's Great Rescue." Some of the Bible lessons in the series are: Parting the Red Sea, David and Goliath, The Thief on the Cross, and Stephen. There are 65 children ages 3 years of age to 6th grade spending time learning about God's plan. Along with the Bible lessons the children are enjoying craft projects, snacks, fun on the playground, and spending time hanging out with their Christian friends.

| Luther High's Jazz Band and the St. John's 2nd grade lead the student body in the song, "Jesus Loves Me." |
Luther's Jazz Band Visits St. John's
The school was rocking today as the Luther High Jazz Band came for a visit. The band played some favorite tunes for the student body. The band played for 30 minutes, and then spent time with the classrooms on the playground. Another highlight of the day was the band was joined by guest director, Jacob Matzke. He helped direct one of the songs (See photos in the gallery.) Finally, the 2nd grade classroom joined in the performance. They were taught some sign language to go along with the song, "Jesus Loves Me."
Mr. Menges and the faculty would like to thank the jazz band director, Mr. Jim Rupprecht, for arranging the performance. We pray that God will continue to bless the students and both Luther High and St. John's. Please check out the photo gallery for more pictures.

Remembering- Lewiston Tornado 1999
Many of us can remember that warm day that turned very nasty on July 8, 1999. Our town suffered major damage from an F2 tornado. However, the Lord is good to his people. Our church and school continue to preach and teach God's Word in its truth and purity. God tells us in His Word, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." St. John's continues to preach the Savior's love to His children in the community and the world. You can view some pictures of the tornado by clicking on the Photo Gallery tab.

| Mrs. Fischer with the 2009 kindergarten class. |
A Heartfelt Thank you to Mrs. Fischer
After 31 years, St. John's favorite kindergarten teacher is retiring. Mrs. Marcie Fischer has provided many warm memories for her students, co-workers, and parents. Students showed their appreciation with a small farewell. The 1-4 students sang songs, and the 5-8 grade showed their appreciation of their former teacher with an alphabet skit. God has truly blessed St. John's with His faithful servant, Mrs. Fischer, guiding our young ones.
You can view more photos of the day by checking out the photo gallery.
